Privacy notice.
How information is handled within the current Local People development platform.
This notice must be completed with the final legal entity, controller address, lawful bases, retention periods, processors, international transfers, data rights and complaint details before public launch.
Using the Local People Assistant
You can ask general questions without providing a name, email address or mobile number. The assistant is clearly identified as AI and can be turned off without restricting the rest of the website.
Approved preview mode
In this preview build, assistant answers come from an approved Local People knowledge file included with the website. Accessibility preferences, preview feedback and draft accessibility reports may be stored locally in the visitor's browser until the secure backend is connected.
Live assistant mode
Before the live AWS assistant is activated, this notice will identify the provider, the information sent to it, the reason for processing, the retention period, whether staff review conversations, and the deletion or objection route. The website will not place AWS credentials or AI service secrets in browser code.
What visitors should not enter
Visitors should not enter unnecessary medical, financial, legal, identity or safeguarding information into the assistant. Sensitive documents should only be supplied through an approved secure process after the team explains why they are needed.
Forms and applications
Once the backend is deployed, submitted applications, recommendations, volunteer records, donation intentions, funding enquiries, community-support applications, accessibility reports and feedback will be stored in a private AWS database with access controls and audit records.
Location information
The current build does not automatically use approximate IP location to select a constituency. A postcode search is provided as the accurate alternative. Any future approximate-location feature will be explained before activation and will remain optional.
Your choices
You can disable the assistant, clear saved accessibility preferences, ask to speak to a person and request access to or deletion of personal information where applicable.
