Local Representation Should Be Local.
Local People was created to help strong independent candidates stand in every UK constituency without giving up their independence.

Politics should look more like the public.
Local People is for ordinary adults of every age and background.
Politics affects ordinary life every day.
Work, family, neighbourhoods, caring responsibilities and the places people spend their time should shape political priorities.

Parties Choose Candidates. Communities Live with Them.
A constituency deserves an MP who knows the area, remains present and answers directly to local people.
Local People provides a shared identity, systems, candidate checks, campaign support and national visibility. Candidates remain free to make decisions based on their constituency and their own judgement.
Founded and led by Martyn OBrien, the movement aims to make standing for Parliament realistic for capable people who are not career politicians.
